Scene 1 - The Museum

 

INT. - MUSEUM - DAY

FADE IN.

Charlie ENTERS the museum through the automatic doors. He WALKS across the carpeted lobby to the reception desk. The museum has no visitors.

 

CHARLIE

(Professional)

Good morning Claire, is Anna available?

 

CLAIRE

(Friendly)

I’ll just check, Charlie.

​

Claire LIFTS the phone and dials Anna’s office.

 

CLAIRE 

(Friendly, Professional)

Hi, Anna. Charlie is here to see you.

(Pause)

Okay, i’ll send him in.

​

Claire PUTS the receiver down.

​

CLAIRE

(Friendly)

She’s in her office, just over there.

 

CHARLIE

(Professional)

Thanks, Claire.

​

Charlie WALKS to Anna’s office and KNOCKS on the door.

​

ANNA

(Friendly)

Come in, Charlie.

​

Charlie ENTERS the office and CLOSES the door.

​

CHARLIE

(Professional, cold)

Last night i received a package at the inn. It contained a usb with a video. I’ve got a copy here.

​

Hands Anna a USB who puts it into her computer it plays a video of the night of the robbery at the museum. Someone enters the room and opens the case with the amulet. They takes the amulet, lock the case and walk out of frame.

ANNA

(Shocked)

I can’t believe it, but why?

 

CHARLIE

(Professional)

I don’t know. It makes finding Jamie even more important. If he has the amulet we need to find out why he’s done this.

 

ANNA

(Surprised)

Are you sure it’s him?

 

CHARLIE

(Professional)

It shows Jamie breaking in and stealing the amulet. It’s clearly him.

 

ANNA

(Surprised)

How did someone ... How did someone get that video?

 

CHARLIE

(Professional)

I don’t know Anna. I really don’t know.

 

ANNA

(Surprised)

Why would Jamie do this?

 

CHARLIE

(Professional)

I was going to ask you. Was he having money problems?

 

ANNA

(Surprised)

Not that i know of. He had a flat at the Abbey and didn’t need for anything. He smoked a bit and he would have needed money for that but i think he got a wage from the library. He never spoke about needing money to me.

 

CHARLIE

(Professional)

I need to go back to Boleskine House. I found some items which i think belonged to Jamie. Someone was there but they fled. I think he might be squatting or someone who knows something anyway.

 

ANNA

(Polite)

I’ll go to Grace with the video. I still can’t believe that he would do this?

 

CHARLIE

(Professional)

When we find him we can find out why.

Scene 2 - Boleskine Burial Ground

​

EXT. - BOLESKINE BURIAL GROUND - DAY

FADE IN.

CHARLIE is WALKING along a dirt road. The birds are CHIRPING and the wind is BLOWING the trees. It is quiet.

 

CHARLIE

(Shouting)

Hello.

(Pause)

Hello, where are you ...

​

In the distance someone is RUNNING over the gravel path to the Mort House. Charlie OPENS the gate and RUNS, across the grass, after the stranger.

 

CHARLIE

(Shouting, breathing hard)

Hey, why are you running?

(Heavy breathing)

There’s nothing in that Mort house.

(Heavy breathing)

What the ...

(Panting)

Where the hell did they go?

 

A metallic CLICK is heard.

 

CHARLIE

(Panting)

What was that? ... It was in the walls.

​

Charlie runs his hands ACROSS the walls and TAPS on the rocks. He WALKS around the inside of the building CRUNCHING dirt and stones.

 

CHARLIE

(Annoyed)

Nothing there ... Hold on ... What’s that. Marks on the floor.

 

Charlie WALKS over and BANGS harder on the wall.

 

CHARLIE

(Frustrated)

There’s something here, a door, maybe. There’s a gap.

 

Charlie PUTS his hand in the gap.

 

CHARLIE

(Grunting)

If i can just ... There we go.

 

The wall SCRAPES across the dirt, SWINGING inward to reveal a passage.

 

CHARLIE

(Tired)

A passage. So that’s where they went.

(Shouting)

Hello ... Jamie? ... Nothing.

I need to record this.

 

Charlie TAKES his phone from his jacket, PRESSES a few buttons and opens up a recording app.

 

CHARLIE

(Professional)

This is voice note 013, for case number FA7638. I’m in Boleskine burial ground and have found a hidden door in the Mort House. I think it might be a priest’s hole. Someone came in here. A person around my height. Wearing all black. The door leads to a passage. It goes  down at a slight angle and the walls are all stone. This passage is old.

 

Charlie cautiously WALKS into the tunnel.

 

CHARLIE

(professional)

These tunnels look older than the mort house. Could the mort house have been built specifically for this tunnel? ... I need a torch.

 

TAKES off his backpack and puts in on the ground. Opens the ZIPPER and gets the torch. He SWITCHES it on. Water is RUNNING down the walls.

​

The walls are getting closer together and there appears to be ... Yes, there are doorways in the walls. One on the right and further down one on the left. There’s water on the walls here, so we must be underground. I need to carefully check each room, the runner might still be here.

 

Charlie WALKS carefully into the room. BREATHING slightly.

 

The room has an arched roof, it’s low. There are two large rock shelves on either side and a metal ring on a square plate attached to the back wall. It’s rusty. Is this an extension of the mort house? It seems older. Maybe it was used before the mort house? Oh God it’s cold.

 

Charlie WALKS out of the room and down to the next.

 

The next room is the same. Two shelves and a ring. Same arched roof. There’s nothing else in here.

 

Charlie continues WALKING.

 

The corridor continues in the same direction and there’s ... Yes. A turn, gradual to the left.

 

A loud BANG is heard from far ahead. Charlie shouts.

 

Whose there. ... I’m armed. ... Come out now.

 

Charlie waits and he is BREATHING heavily.

 

I’m going to go back. This is madness.

 

RUNNING.

 

No ... It’s closed. The door back to the Mort House has closed and there doesn’t seem to be a way to open it from here.

 

Charlie PUSHES the door and PUSHES the rocks. He RUNS the knife round for a crack but finds none.

 

Dammit ... It’s shut tight. I’ll have to go back through the tunnel to the end.

 

Charlie WALKS back.

​

Still nothing in the other rooms ... Right, i’m back at the turn. There looks like another few rooms down this corridor but it’s hard to see too far, even with the torch.

 

Charlie WALKS slowly down the tunnel.

 

The ground is getting damper and the walls are wetter here ... The first room ... Same as the first two. Except ... What’s that ... Rope. Tied to the ring on the end wall but ... The rope looks quite new. It’s tied with two hoops. One at each end. Has this been used as ... Handcuffs. The ground looks like someone has been sat there, there are scuff marks on the floor where someone’s feet would have been ... What the hell is this place.

 

Charlie CONTINUES down the tunnel to the next room.

The next room ... What is ... It’s a bed. A metal bed frame with an old mattress. There are ... Strappings on each corner ... Jeez ... On the shelf there are some clothes, a jumper and a pair of jeans, and a pair of boots. There’s also ... Paper ... Same as the abbey, same writing ... It’s Jamie’s. Is this where Jamie was staying ... Or held?

 

Charlie PUTS the paper into his pocket.

 

On the floor at the other side of the bed ... It’s bread. Been stepped on, looks quite fresh. Whoever was here has been here the last few days. There’s a symbol on this wall. About three feet wide.

It is a hexagram, a diamond shape with two arrows pointing inwards coming from each side. With a five leafed flower in the centre. This is the same symbol that was painted on the wall in Boleskine House. There’s nothing else in this room.

Charlie WALKS slowly down the tunnel.

 

The next room is the same as the first two, empty. No rope here either. Just plain.

 

Charlie CONTINUES down the tunnel.

 

There’s another turn here, gentle, like the first ... I can see ... It’s a chamber at the end of the tunnel.

 

Charlie STOPS walking.

 

Can’t hear anything.

 

Charlie CONTINUES walking.

The tunnel keeps going into ... I can’t see the other end of the room. The walls looked curved and there are conclaves on either side of this entrance and there looks to be ... I can’t see all the way in. There is a ... A table of ... No ... It’s ... Is it?

 

Charlie WALKS round the alter.

 

It looks like an alter. It’s stone, solid, around three metres long by one meter wide. There is a circle carved into the middle with a deep hole in the centre ... The room is circular, there looks to be enclaves all the way round, at least ten of them. What is this place for?

 

A BANG is heard. Charlie TURNS around.

 

What the ... Hello ...

(silence)

That didn’t come from the tunnel. So where ...

 

Charlie WALKS toward the noise.

 

Is there another exit here?

 

Charlie continues WALKING.

 

This alcove looks ... Yeah, this is a door.

 

Charlie TURNS the handle and OPENS the door.

 

Stairs, circular stairs going up. Let’s see what’s up there.

 

Charlie WALKS up the stone steps.

 

A wall. The stairs end at a wall. Is this a hidden door.

 

Charlie PUSHES the wall with his shoulder.

 

Boleskine ... This is Boleskine House. A stairwell hidden behind a wall.

(Pause)

This is the same room i was in before. I need to head back and speak to Grace.

 

A shot HITS off the wall behind Charlie. Charlie GETS to the ground. Another shot is FIRED. 

 

CHARLIE 

(Screams)
